If your child’s permanent tooth is knocked out, rinse the tooth off in cool water very gently (don’t scrub or use soap). Handle only the crown portion of the tooth and not the root. If possible, place it back in the socket and hold in place with a clean gauze or a washcloth.
If the tooth cannot be reinserted, place it in a cup of milk, saline or water. Act fast and get to the dental office immediately. This is the best way to save the tooth.

Contact us as soon as possible; do not try to reinsert a baby tooth.

Rinse the mouth with warm water and apply a cool compress over the injured soft tissue area to reduce swelling. Contact your pediatric dentist.

Go immediately to the emergency room

To comfort your child, rinse the mouth with warm, diluted salt water. Motrin or Tylenol may help relieve some of the pain and discomfort. Contact us as soon as possible. Do not apply heat or an aspirin to the area.
