First Visit
Bring your child for their first visit once their first tooth erupts or no later than their first birthday. This will be a new experience for your child, so we make it a cheerful, positive one.
Infants & Toddlers
We begin the first visit by introducing ourselves and showing them around the office, answering questions and explaining things in simple terms. We’ll do a comprehensive oral examination. We encourage parents to stay with their child during the examination. We’ll discuss your child’s dental needs and talk about establishing a “dental home” in the event of a dental emergency, oral hygiene, parent education, diet counseling, and habits such as pacifier use and thumb sucking.
Older children
Older first-time patients will receive a thorough examination and we’ll take dental x-rays of the mouth and jaw if needed. Parents are welcome to stay in the examination room. If dental work is needed we will talk with you about the treatment plan we recommend. Depending on your child’s level of comfort and cooperation, we may also do a cleaning and a fluoride treatment.
Family needs
The first visit is a good time to discuss your individual family needs such as time constraints, financial concerns, and other issues. Let us know if you have questions or special needs so that we may take the best possible care of your child.
Patient forms
Click the links in the drop-down menu above to download and print the paperwork we’ll require at your first visit. Please fill out the forms and bring them with you. If you don’t have access to a printer we’ll provide the forms for completion when you come to the office.
Financial information
We accept most insurance plans and we will file as a courtesy to our patients. Please call or fax your insurance information to us at least 24 hours prior to your child’s first appointment to allow for us to retrieve all of your benefit information ahead of time. This will allow for a smoother first visit for you and your child. For your convenience, we also accept cash, check, American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Care Credit.
