First Visits

What To Expect

We know how hard it can be to keep up with your child’s oral care, and at Alamo Heights Pediatric Dentistry, we are committed to being your judgment free partners in this journey from the very first visit. Your child’s first dental appointment will be all about establishing a relationship with Dr. Sage and Dr. Walker. Our doctors will discuss recommendations for diet and oral hygiene, and help you establish a great at-home dental care routine by sharing tips and tricks for brushing your child’s teeth. Our team of pros will always maintain a compassionate approach, and uniquely tailor your visit to your needs.

Don’t forget these things!

We'll send out a link ahead of your child's appointment with paperwork to fill out electronically. We know your time is valuable, so we recommend you complete these before your first visit:

  • Your child’s medical history
  • A list of any medications your child is taking
  • Your insurance information, if applicable
  • New patient forms

How To Prepare Your Child For Their Dental Visit

A comfortable dental appointment starts before you even walk through the Alamo Heights Pediatric Dentistry doors. We find that there are times when parents unintentionally instill their own fears of the dentist onto their children, so before your visit, it is best not to use any fear-inspiring words like “drill,” “pain,”, or “shot”.

Help your children understand that their dental appointment should be a positive experience where their personal dentist will answer any questions and help to keep their teeth clean, ensuring their mouths stay healthy.

Talking with your child about Dr. Sage and Dr. Walker as though they are longtime, trusted friends will help your child to trust their dentists. You can even show them pictures of our staff and office here on our website to make them feel more familiar when they get to come in for their visit.
